Mind
Having discipline over the mind.
Is challenging but doable.
Your mind controls how you speak, how you share, and what you choose to share, it controls you; your habits, your tics, your likes and dislikes. Your thoughts, your anger, your will. I guess everything forms in the mind first. So, having control of this very thing is a must. If possible, we must try to gain control so that the consciousness that will get to live beyond can form into a better being through this life.
I know not all of us believe our souls live on. But come on. With all the galaxies and stars, planets and so much life. Do you believe with 100% certainty that we just cease to exist? I acknowledge that we humans tend to give ourselves more value to make ourselves and our stories feel important, but what’s wrong with that? Faith, is a crucial thing, in this world, and the next.
So I call you to just consider the if.
Let’s say, hypothetically speaking if your consciousness could live on, past your physical death, and remember the lessons you learned and the experiences you lived in this life, yet only got to develop as far as your mind did, would you be content with what you’ve done?
Wouldn’t you want to become better? Someone humble, calm, sincere, and understanding? Wouldn’t you want to be the best of you that you possibly could be? Seeing people like Bruce Lee, or Shaolin Shi Heng Yi, inspires me to be better.
They teach us that just by understanding our minds, we can gain 70% control. Just by understanding your triggers, and natural responses, you can control the outlook of your reactions. Therefore pushing you to be better, than the autopilot people- who are run by their simple desires. When life is so much more.
The first step towards a conscious, awake, and well-lived life is through our mind.
Here are some easy-level things you can do to make this change.
Hold yourself accountable for everything. Accept that everything is under your control. Even if you realize your mistakes too late, just admit them, and find a way to fix them.
Sit for a while, and bring your mind back to the present moment. Close your eyes for 10 minutes, and observe your thoughts from a third view. Separate your thoughts and yourself. Just observe the thoughts and speech bubbles that pop up and listen to what they say. What are the phrases that come out and what is the connotation under them? Why are they saying the things they are? Where did those thoughts begin to form? Once you understand the way you think, judge, and feel. And the WHY.
It can be helpful to reflect on the thoughts that have been with us since childhood, such as the fear of failure. This fear may have formed early on, perhaps during a soccer tournament where you fell while kicking the ball and everyone laughed at you. If you were not properly supported and encouraged after this incident, you may have grown up always feeling afraid to give your all, for fear of falling and being ridiculed again. It's interesting to see how experiences like this can shape our attitudes towards failure, even when they seem insignificant to us as adults. Our initial experiences with each emotion leave the strongest impact, making them difficult to overcome.
The truth is, that we simply have to go back and rewire our brains.
I know of so many people who can call this cliche, but with my experiences collected, and observing my life in comparison to others, I truly am doing a favor, sharing all these things with you.
So my friends, continue your curiosity. After all, God did not create us full of curiosity for it to be suppressed. And for us to stop being this way. Yes, Eve’s curiosity might have ended us up all on Earth, away from heaven, but this too, was in God’s plan. So, let’s save our world, with our curiosity this time. Let’s make real change, because we did not fear, and we used the good, and evil, the freedom of thought that was gifted to us, to better our own kind.
