Why reflection is important

What I recommend for people who are affected by some trauma from their childhood and are aware of it is to - revisit.

Sit in a comfortable room, have some water, and think back to that memory. FEEL. And do in your imagination what you would’ve wanted to happen in that memory. If you wanted someone to step in for you - do it now as an adult. If you had wanted to fight back, then do so in your imagination.

Refill the blanks. Rewrite the story. Ease the memory. Give yourself new feelings about that memory. Yeah it was painful, but perhaps you stood up for yourself? Someone had your back?

By doing this memory manipulation -

You can be completely free from the negative side effects of a memory that are out of your control.

I like negative memories. I like to think of them in a positive way. But the more i’ve met people the more I see its sort of impossible for some to sit there and think of their memories in any way but bad.

It causes anxiety, depression, anger issues, so on.

I think of the times I got beat, and think I am so glad I got beat. Because compared to the non-beat kids, i grew up much better. my humor got beat into place. My jokes are broader now. Haha.

There’s always a good side to a story.
